SULUK

Suluk people are an etnic group of the Philippines and Malaysia. Tausug was derived from two words tau and sug that is meaning "people of the current". Many tausug people in semporna are very active in business and they are succes.

RACES IN SEMPORNA :-

BAJAU

The second largest indigenous group in Sabah is the Bajau, a collective term for a predominantly Muslim people and their kindred groups. Originally seafarers, there are now two distinct groups, the East Coast Bajau and West Coast Bajau. The West Coast Bajau have now settled down around the Kota Kinabalu to Kota Belud areas and have learnt the art of farming and cattle rearing. They are the famous cowboys of Sabah. Their skills in horsemanship are well known locally and on festive occasions both horses and riders are dressed in colourful costumes. On the east coast however many of the Sea Bajaus still live in the traditional way. Fishing is the main activity. While many have settled on land or in water villages, some are still nomadic boat dwellers.

REGATTA LEPA-LEPA

Regatta lepa is an event in Semporna that is happen every year in April. Semporna comes to life with the Bajau seafarers` unique Regatta Lepa where a competition of the most beautiful traditional sailboats is held. Witness telemathches such as the boat-tug-war, kayak race, boat race and many more.

SPECIAL FOOD IN SEMPORNA :-

SAGOL IKAN BUNTAL

Sagol ikan Buntal. Many people already know that this fish has a sting inside the body. But the peoples in semporna still like to eat this food. Only sempornian that is expert to handle the sting inside this fish before cook it. It will be dangerous food if you do not remove the sting. This food is also one of the famous food in semporna.

This is also one of the special food in Semporna. This is one of the famaous traditional food not even in sabah but also in Malaysia.

PULAU KAPALAI 

 Kapalai Island is located along the north - eastern beachfront of Sipadan Island. It is a 40 minute speedboat ride from the port of Semporna. For you information there are 40 chalets are built on high wooden stilts in the middle of the ocean. There are also restaurant that a viewing area in the middle of the restaurant wich allows you to see the myriad of marine life.

PULAU MABUL

Pulau Mabul is a little island some 25mins by boat from Sipadan.
Mabul is also renowned for its amazing array of macrolife, making it an underwater photographer’s dream location to capture some of the rarestecological species on film.Flamboyant cuttlefish, blue-ringed octopus, spike-fin gobies, frogfish and moray eels are just some of the spectacular critters you will encounter beneath the waters of Mabul.In this island, there will  many creatures muck diving as we did diving on the pristine coral reefs

  Sipadan is one of the  most beautifull island in Malaysia.. For you information , this island  rising 600 metres (2,000 ft) from the seabed. one of the deepest sea in asia. It is located in the Celebes Sea off the east coast of Sabah, East Malaysia (which is on the island of Borneo). This island have many aquatic life such as turtles, shark and many more. Every year, there were around 10 thousand tourists from the whole world come to visit Pulau Sipadan.

           The British North Borneo Company  who is found semporna.. The company which is established Sandakan, and initially settled by Chinese traders, most fleeing from Spanish attack on the Sulu Sultanate. for you information, the name Semporna means place of rest (as in Sanskrit "sampoorna" meaning accomplishment. and British was give quelled resistance from the local Bajaus in the mid 1880 . The name of the place  changing  from Tong Talun. This place also famous because of four admirals who is  Panglima Kabogan, Panglima Bum-Bum, Panglima Simunul and Panglima Abdullah . All people in semporna believe that Semporna was founded by these admirals. Others, many Sempornian also said the real leader is Panglima Jamaludin Bin Ajibudin. Semporna is on the popular places not only in Malaysia. But it is also popular in the around the world. Every every, the percentages of the tourist come to visit this place are increase.
